38+ Casino Software Providers (Find Slots by Maker)
Who makes slot machines?
That’s one of the first questions I asked when I started gambling. Eventually, I learned that casino software providers made up a large industry. Slot machine makers have, in fact, spent countless millions of dollars refining their games to provide maximum customer engagement.

I have a friend who works at one of the smaller slot machine development companies, so I have some unique insights into the slot machine manufacturers’ industry. I’ve also devoured a book about the industry called Addiction by Design: Machine Gambling in Las Vegas by Natasha Dow Schüll, which I recommend to anyone interested in slots’ inner workings.

But the purpose of this page and this section of the website is simple:
It’s to help you find slots by specific manufacturers.
Once you’ve been playing slots for a while, you might notice that slot machines from specific providers do more to entertain you than slot machines from other casino software providers. The goal of this section of the site is to enable you to find more games that you enjoy based on who made them.
Below you’ll find a list of casino software providers and slot machine developers. Click on any of them to find more games from that company:
The Top 14 Land-Based Casino Game Providers
Here’s a list of casino game providers who focus mostly on land-based casinos and casino games. They might also make online games, but their primary market is the traditional casino market. I’ve listed them in alphabetical order:
- Ainsworth
- Aristocrat
- Bally Technologies
- Barcrest
- EGT (Euro Games Technology)
- H5G (High 5 Games)
- IGT
- Konami
- Novomatic
- Playtech
- SG Gaming (Scientific Games)
- Sigma Gaming
- VGT
- WMS (Williams)
Of course, these aren’t the only 14 companies providing machine gambling to casinos. They’re just the biggest.
4 Defunct Slot Machine Companies
This list of slot machine companies includes those companies which have gone out of business or been swallowed up by a larger company and no longer have a brand presence. I should note that some slot machine makers have been acquired by other companies but maintain a brand presence, so they don’t get added to this list.
I could fill an entire page with just lists of such corporations that have gone out of business, but the above are the most notable I can think of right now.
Top 12 Online Casino Software Providers
You’ll also find plenty of companies that only provide casino software to online casinos. An incomplete list of online casino software providers follows:
- Ash Gaming
- Betsoft
- Cryptologic
- GameSys
- Leander
- Microgaming
- NetEnt
- NextGen Gaming
- Play’n Go
- Realtime Gaming (RTG)
- Rival
- Yggdrasil
Countless other companies work in the online-only space.
More about Specific Slot Machine Makers
Below you’ll find a high-level description of the slot machine makers and casino software providers listed on this page. Keep in mind that many of these companies have full profiles on this site that you can view by clicking on the links in the lists above.
AC Coin & Slot
AC Coin & Slot was an Atlantic City slot machine company founded in 1978. During the 1990s, the company also had an office in Las Vegas. At one time, AC Coin & Slot had exclusive distribution rights for IGT slot machine games, too.
Some of the most popular games from AC Coin & Slot include:
- Bewitched
- Empire
- Great Goldfish Giveaway
- The Honeymooners
- Jack and the Beanstalk
- King of the Grill
- Little Green Men
- Merlin
- Miss America
- The Munny Returns
- Slotto
- When in Rome
Some of these games still exist but have become the intellectual property of other slot machine companies.
Aristocrat Technologies
Aristocrat Technologies is the most famous and largest provider of slot machines in Australia, which is a gambling Mecca all in itself. In fact, Aristocrat is second only to IGT in terms of size. It is a public company employing over 2000 people.
Here’s a list of some Aristocrat’s most famous games:
- 50 Lions
- Buffalo Diamond
- Buffalo Gold
- Dollar Storm
- Dolphin Treasure
- Dragon Link
- Game of Thrones: Fire and Blood
- Mad Max Fury Road
- Madonna
- Penguin Pays
- Queen of the Nile
- Reel Em In
Since these are mostly Australian games, they’re most often referred to as “pokies,” which is what they call slot machines down under. It’s short for “poker machines,” and such games are characterized by lots of reels, paylines, and bonus features.
Atronic Gaming
Atronic Gaming is a now-defunct slot machine manufacturer that was founded in 1993 and was based in Europe for almost 20 years. They offered over 200 different games to over 90 different countries including the United States. Atronic Gaming was eventually swallowed up by GTECH, which is the largest casino vendor in the world.
Some of the most popular games in the Atronic Gaming stable include:
- Bamboo Forest
- Big Boys Toys
- Cash Fever
- Deal or No Deal
- Doggie Cash
- Dragonboat
- Grand Masters
- King Kong Cash
- Madame Sakura
- Star Gate
- Tiger and Dragon
I miss Atronic Gaming, but some of their games are still around.
Bally Technologies
I wasn’t sure about whether to include Bally Technologies on the list of defunct companies above. They were a huge player in the industry for a long time, but they’ve been acquired by SG Gaming (Scientific Games). Since the company was in business for 85+ years, I think SG Gaming is keeping the brand alive.
Some of the popular slot machine games from Bally Technologies include:
- Blazing 7s
- Cirque Du Soleil Amaluna
- Hee Haw
- Hot Shot Inferno
- James Bond Goldfinger
- Monopoly Millionaire
- Playboy
- Saturday Night Live
- Twin Fire Frenzy
- Willy Wonka Dream Factory
A list of all the games Bally Technologies has produce through the years would probably fill an entire web page and then some.
IGT (International Game Technology)
IGT is short for International Game Technology. The company is the biggest provider of casino software and slot machines in the world, and most of the biggest brands in slots belong to IGT. Fun fact — IGT was also the first company to use random number generator software.
Here’s a list of some of IGT’s most famous games:
- Abracadabra
- Alien
- Creature from the Black Lagoon
- Elvira
- Evel Knievel
- Family Feud
- Flip Flop Deluxe
- Great White
- Harley Davidson
- Haywire
- Jeopardy
- Lucky Larry’s Lobstermania
- Money Mad Martians
- Money Storm
- Party Animals
- The Price is Right
- Sex and the City
- Top Dollar
- Wheel of Fortune
No one could possibly list every IGT slot machine game on a single page.
Konami
Konami isn’t necessarily primarily a slot machine company — the company is probably better known as being one of Japan’s largest video game designers and manufacturers. Konami also manufactures arcade game cabinets and prints trading cards.
The corporation diversified into the slot machine industry in 1978, though, and the company is now an established player in the gambling niche.
Some of the popular Konami slot machine games you might have heard of include:
- Aloha Gold
- Atlantic Treasure
- Cash Inferno
- Money in the Bank
- Ocean Spin
- Rocky
- Silent Hill
That’s just a small sampling of the games available from Konami. Many of their games are unique intellectual properties to themselves, really.
Mikohn Gaming
Mikohn Gaming is one of the businesses on my defunct list. The company went bankrupt, and all Mikohn Gaming assets were scooped up by IGT.
Some of the games the company was known for include:
- Battleship
- Clue
- Garfield
- KISS
- Ripley’s Believe It or Not
- Trivial Pursuit
- Yahtzee
You’ll notice a definite lean toward board game themed slot machines in Mikohn’s stable, which made the company a perfect acquisition target for IGT.
Shuffle Master
Shuffle Master was formerly a public company that specialized in manufacturing automatic shuffling machines for blackjack tables. The company also invented multiple card games that casinos adopted with varying degrees of success. Shuffle Master only dipped its toes into the slot machine market, but some of the Shuffle Master slot machines are remembered with fondness. Some of them are still found in casinos, too.
Shuffle Master gambling machines include:
Shuffle Master is another company that was acquired by SG Gaming (Scientific Games).
Sigma Gaming
Sigma Gaming is a UK-based company that produces both slot machines and video poker games. The company has a smaller library of content than some other companies, but Sigma’s games are notable for being especially user-friendly.
Some of the games available from Sigma Gaming include:
- Big Mouth Bass
- Easy Riches
- The Game of Life
- Treasure Tunnel
Sigma is probably better-known for video poker games.
Video Gaming Technologies (VGT)
VGT specializes in games for tribal casinos throughout the United States, many of which have restrictions to how the results are generated. (Class II versus Class III)
The company was founded in 1991 but was acquired by Aristocrat Leisure several years later.
The Winstar Casino is full of games from this company, and some of them include:
- 777 Bourbon Street
- Almighty Dollar
- Cameloot
- Caribbean Cash
- Cash Barn
- Cavalier
- Celia Cruz: The Queen of Salsa
- Countin’ Cash
- Crazy Billions
- Crazy Bill’s Gold Strike
- Crazy Cherry
- Double Freedom Reels
- Fox on the Run
- Free Spins of Fortune
- Gems and Jewels
- Gemstone Falls
- Greenback Jack
- Hunt for Neptune’s Gold
- It’s Payback Time
- Jade Dragon 8s
- King of Coin
- Land of the Free Spins
- Luaua Loot
- The Lucky Leprechaun
- Major Bucks
- Mama’s Millions
- Mount Cashmore
- Mr. Millionaire
- Mr. Moneybags
- Pirates Paradise
- Polar High Roller
- Quarterback Cash
- Radiant Rocks
- Red Hot Rubies
- Red Zone Cash Rush
- Reel Fever
- Silver Dollar Shootout
- Squirrels Gone Nuts
- Star Spangled Sevens
- Super Hits
- Super Speedway Sevens
- Tito Puente: King of Mambo
- Victory Lap
I have a lot of experience with VGT games as I live near Oklahoma. In fact, one of the most popular pages on my site is my red screen slot machines strategy page. Those “red screen” games from VGT have some of the best payouts in the casino.
WMS Gaming
Like a couple of the other slot machine providers on this list, WMS Gaming has been swallowed up by Scientific Games (SG Gaming). WMS, though, was originally a pinball game manufacturer, and then they made video games.
Here are a few of their more popular slot machine games:
- Big Money Show
- Golden Hammer
- Golden Moai
- Gorilla Chief
- Jewels of the Night
- Kronos
- Loose Diamonds
- Madame X
- Magic Crystal
- Monopoly
- Panda Riches
- Reel ‘Em In
- Roman Dynasty
- Royal Unicorn
- Snow Leopard
- Super Easy Money
- Triple Golden Cherries
- Wild Frontier
- Wild Waves
- Zanzibar
Conclusion
I have plans to expand this page and this section of the site dramatically. The number of companies providing casino software and slot machine games to the industry is staggering, so this will be a work in progress for a long time to come.
